All Saints Blackbutt South — Faith Communities of Adamstown, Cardiff and Kotara
On Tuesday and Thursday evenings of this past week (13 & 15 November 2018) around sixty-four of our Yr 3 children received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Though so young and innocent, they now have an understanding of the forgiveness that awaits us all, whenever we bring our human failings to the Lord. As we listened to the Gospel story of the Lost Sheep and the Lost Coins it seemed clear that when we lose our way; we are always welcomed back by our loving God. We thank the team who guided the children at each of our three centres. Thanks also to the parents who supported them during this time.
The first of two essential Confirmation classes began throughout All Saints Parish on Monday of this week. Around 60 children are expected to attend these after school or evening classes given by the dedicated volunteer teams at Adamstown, Cardiff and Kotara. Classes must be supplemented by the parents working through the ‘Our Family Prepares’ booklet with the child.
The Sacrament will be given following the Easter break.
From this weekend, parents are encouraged to bring the children to the vigils or Sunday Masses, to develop their familiarity with the liturgy and find their place in the wider parish community. Those attending during these coming weeks will take part in activities to introduce them to parishioners and begin to move towards the greater involvement in parish, which Confirmation suggests.
